Black Spire Sabers Return to the Forge

Droid Personality Chips

For Galaxy's Edge Droid Depot astromechs — R-Series, C-Series, and BB-Series.

In a quiet corner of the workshop, the Master Slicer works at the Droid Assembler and Programmer. Stock chips come and stock chips go, but the chips that leave this bench carry a different kind of voice — one tuned to Batuu, aware of where the droid wanders, and loud enough to be heard above a Cantina crowd. Each chip is plug-and-play. Swap it in, power up your astromech, and your droid speaks for itself.

What the Master Slicer builds

Every chip is built to drop into the same socket the stock park chip uses. No tools, no tweaking. The behaviors your droid already knows — greetings, encounters with other droids, idle chatter — all still fire. The chip changes the voice, the volume, and the local awareness; the droid does the rest.

Character chips on the bench

Nineteen voices currently sit on the Master Slicer's shelf. Each is a distinct personality — not a clone of any park chip, though the affiliations follow the same color-coded conventions Droid Depot travelers will recognize.

Custom chips, by commission

A traveler with a specific voice in mind can commission a chip. Send the Sabersmith a message with the idea. Pricing starts at $31 and scales with the work involved — if you bring the audio, the chip stays simple; if the Master Slicer has to design new audio from scratch, the price reflects the bench time. Rules of the forge: no copies of park chips, no extracted park sounds, all audio G-rated, and any audio a customer brings must be theirs to share.

Common questions

Which droids do these chips work with?

Every chip is built to work with all Galaxy's Edge Droid Depot astromechs — R-Series, C-Series, and BB-Series. The same chip works across the entire lineup.

What does location-aware mean?

Galaxy's Edge has hidden Bluetooth beacons throughout Batuu. When your droid is near one, the chip plays unique sounds tied to that area — Resistance, First Order, Droid Depot, Oga's Cantina, and Dok Ondar's Den of Antiquities. Your droid recognizes where it is in the outpost.

Are these copies of the park chips?

No. The Master Slicer builds every chip from scratch. Some chips follow similar character themes since park chips are grouped by color, but none of the sounds are extracted, copied, or re-recorded from the parks. They are original creations.

How loud are they compared to the standard park chips?

Significantly louder. The standard park chips can be hard to hear, especially in BB-Series droids where the sphere muffles the speaker. The Master Slicer's chips are built to be audible across a Cantina or a Cargo bay without effort.

Will the chip interact with other droids?

Yes. The droid's existing interaction triggers still fire — when another Droid Depot astromech comes near, your droid will respond. The Master Slicer's chip simply replaces the sound library, not the underlying behavior.

Can I order a custom chip?

Yes. Custom designs start at $31. Send the Sabersmith a message with your idea. If you have the audio files, that keeps the cost down. If the chip needs original audio created from scratch, the price scales with the work required. Rules of the forge: no copies of park chips, all audio must be G-rated, and any audio you provide must be yours to share.

How does shipping work?

Chips ship from the forge via Core-to-Outer Rim Express (CORE). Smaller and lighter than blade-length parcels, so shipping is friendly. Combined shipping discounts are available when ordering multiple chips or with other forge goods.
