Black Spire Sabers — The Sabersmith's Forge

Welcome to Black Spire Sabers, the workshop of the Sabersmith — an Outer Rim forge. We handcraft custom lightsaber blades, droid personality chips, and blade controllers for Galaxy's Edge lightsabers and droids. Every piece is forged, tested, and shipped with care.

Enhanced Lightsaber Blades

Every enhanced blade starts as a genuine Disney Parks lightsaber blade, rebuilt with a custom controller at its heart. No 3D-printed knockoffs or flimsy connectors. With 64 vibrant colors, 7 dynamic lighting effects, and 4 brightness settings, you command about 500 possible combinations. From the outside it looks identical to a stock blade, and your hilt still reads Kyber crystals for sound. Plug and play — no soldering required. Available in 26", 31", or 36" lengths for Savi's Workshop and Galaxy's Edge legacy hilts. New blades start at $159; refurbished blades from $129. Step inside the forge → full details on enhanced blades.

Droid Personality Chips

Give your Galaxy's Edge droid a voice all its own. Our personality chips are compatible with all Droid Depot Astromechs — R-Series, C-Series, and BB-Series. They are location-aware on Batuu, playing unique sounds for Resistance, First Order, Droid Depot, Oga's Cantina, and Dok Ondar's areas. They interact with other droids and are much louder than standard park chips — especially helpful for BB Units. Choose from 16+ character chips including R2-D2, Darth Vader, Yoda, Chopper, Boba Fett, HK-47, and more, or commission a fully custom design. All chips are $31. Visit the Master Slicer's bench → all sixteen chips and the custom commission.

DIY Blade Controller Board

For the hands-on builder: our replacement controller board unlocks the same 64 colors, 7 effects, and 4 brightness settings as the complete blade upgrade. Comes fully assembled, programmed, and tested — ready to install in your Savi's Workshop or Legacy lightsaber blade. Soldering skills and tools required. $40 per board. See the Engineering Coder's board → full specs and install guidance.

About Black Spire Sabers

Black Spire Sabers operates from the Sabersmith's forge, where every product is handcrafted and tested before it ships. Our crew of droids — B5-o7, Bessi, Bones, and HK-M3 — handle customer communications while the Sabersmith works the forge. Visit our Etsy shop to browse current inventory, or explore the forge above to chat with one of our droids.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Black Spire Sabers blades and the standard blades from Galaxy's Edge? We start with a genuine 26-, 31-, or 36-inch Galaxy's Edge blade — new or gently used — and replace the controller board inside it. The new controller unlocks 64 colors, 7 lighting effects (pulse, shimmer, and more), and 4 brightness settings. Everything else about the blade stays exactly the same — same LEDs, same look from the outside, same connection to your hilt.

Do I need to modify my Savi's Workshop or Legacy Saber hilt to use this blade? No. Nothing inside the hilt is changed or modified. Your hilt still reads the kyber crystal to pick its sound and behaves exactly like it does with a stock blade. It's a true plug-and-play swap.

Will your blades work in Legacy Sabers? Yes, as long as your Legacy hilt uses the standard Savi's Workshop blade connector and isn't a single-color blade. The Legacy hilts we know are not compatible: the Darksaber, Yoda's saber, the skinny-bladed Ahsoka Tano saber, the Cal Kestis color-changing saber, and The Stranger. We can't guarantee compatibility with Legacy hilts released after January 2026 until we've had a chance to test them.

Is this the same as a neopixel or Proffieboard blade? No. Our blades use the same LEDs as the stock blades sold at the parks. That's why they cost a fraction of what a neopixel or Proffieboard build runs — and we pass that savings on to you.

Are your personality chips compatible with my Disney droid? Yes. If you built your droid at Droid Depot or bought a droid that accepts the personality chips sold at Disney, our chips will work in it.

Are your personality chips just copies of the chips sold in the park? No — every chip is 100% original. They're not clones or re-recordings of park chips. Some of our chips follow similar character themes to park chips (since park chips are grouped by color), but the sounds themselves are all unique. Our chips are also noticeably louder than the park versions. We made them that way on purpose — the BB-unit sphere muffles a lot of sound, and stock chips can be hard to hear.

Do you make custom personality chips? Yes. If you have an idea for a chip — Star Wars or otherwise — reach out and we'll talk about making it happen. The only restrictions: no politics, no adult content (keep it G-rated), and no obscenities.
